After spending more than 30 years in various roles on the leading edge of storage technology, it is safe to say I have a good understanding of the needs of the enterprise storage industry. For as long as storage technology has been around, enterprise companies have wished for a solution that meets all of their demands – most prominently performance, capacity, reliability, and endurance. As of today, we’re proud to offer a solution that combines all of these benefits – Optimus Ultra.
Here at SMART Storage Systems, we design solid-state storage specifically for the enterprise. Today, we announced the Optimus Ultra Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) solid-state drive (SSD), a great product that provides greater capacity and better performance at a cost-effective price.
The Optimus Ultra SSD is designed to meet enterprise storage application needs, facilitating broad SSD adoption in enterprise environments. A unique key feature technology of the Optimus Ultra SSD is the Guardian Technology Platform which is comprised of FlashGuard™, EverGuard™, and DataGuard™ technologies. These technologies truly set the Optimus Ultra SSD apart from other enterprise SSDs on the market.
The heart of the Optimus Ultra SSD is Flashguard, a technology that will extend the life of the SSD and deliver optimal results. Existing MLC flash technology delivers less than 1 random drive writes per day when enterprise applications require at least 25x drive writes per day for their write intensive application. Leveraging the Guardian Technology Platform’s unique FlashGuard technology, Optimus Ultra SSD can achieve 25 full random drive writes per day for five years, providing the necessary endurance for enterprise data centers. What we believe to be an outstanding benefit of Optimus Ultra though, is enterprise organizations get SLC-like endurance with MLC pricing. Organizations and OEMs no longer need to sacrifice capacity and costs to realize the performance gains of solid-state storage.
In essence, we are revolutionizing the storage landscape by offering an SSD that achieves the performance, capacity, reliability, and endurance balance required by enterprise organizations.
Until next time.
